From August 29th to 31st, 2024, CTI Maldives successfully concluded the “Gaabil Anhenun” Women Empowerment Workshop on the island of AA. Bodufolhudhoo. This groundbreaking event, held in collaboration with the Association for Awareness, Recreational, and Unity (AARU), was designed to empower Women Development Committees (WDCs) across North Ari Atoll. The workshop represented a pivotal moment for the participants, providing them with critical skills and knowledge to enhance their roles within their communities.
The workshop was led by Ahmed Nawaz Rasheed, the Chief Operations Officer of CTI Maldives, who is renowned for his contributions to women’s development training in the Maldives. Nawaz’s extensive experience in delivering women-focused training programs ensured that the content was both relevant and impactful. His involvement underscored CTI Maldives’ commitment to supporting the growth and development of women leaders across the nation.
The event was well-supported by key organizations, including the AA. Bodufolhudhoo Council and The Asia Foundation, which played crucial roles in making the workshop a reality. WDC Participants traveled from various islands, including AA. Rasdhoo, AA. Maalhos, AA. Himandhoo, AA. Thoddoo, and AA. Ukulhas in addition to AA. Bodufolhudhoo, to take part in this first-of-its-kind training in the atoll. The turnout reflected the growing recognition of the importance of specialized training for WDC members, who play a vital role in their communities.
Over the course of three days, the 25 participants engaged in sessions that covered essential topics such as Planning and Work Organization, Digital Literacy, Budgeting, Financial Literacy, and Leadership. To ensure maximum comprehension and engagement, the content was delivered in Dhivehi, as requested by the WDC members. This approach allowed participants to fully grasp the material and apply the concepts more effectively within their local contexts.
The workshop concluded with a critical discussion on the challenges faced by WDC members, led by Shujau, President of the AA. Bodufolhudhoo Council. This session provided a platform for participants to voice their concerns and collaborate on potential solutions, further enhancing the practical value of the workshop. The open dialogue fostered a sense of unity and collective responsibility among the participants.
Feedback from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to learn new skills and gain insights that will help them better serve their communities. Participants highlighted the importance of ongoing training to further develop their leadership and organizational abilities. CTI Maldives, recognized as the premier institution for talent development in the Maldives, continues to play a vital role in fostering a culture of empowerment and progress throughout the nation.
